Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Search boxes on this site are run by outside companies. A name or a date of birth typed into one of those boxes goes to the provider that operates it, which handles the query and sends back the results. We do not keep or log what you type into those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so that we can answer it. The message stays inside our team, and it is not shared outside the organization unless a legal obligation leaves no other choice.
Data We Gather Automatically
Basic technical details arrive at our servers each time a page loads:
- The IP address your device is using
- The browser you have open, along with its version
- The type of device and the operating system on it
- Which pages you opened and how long each stayed on screen
- The site that linked you here, when there is one
- The time each page view happened
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that a site stores on your device. We use them to see how the site is used, which pages draw the most visits, and where readers tend to leave. Analytics services help pull that traffic into aggregate numbers. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any point, though parts of the site may not work the same way if you do.
What We Do With This Data
The information described above is used for a short list of practical purposes:
- Keeping the site online, fast, and available
- Passing your search requests to the right partner service
- Seeing which pages readers find useful and which need more work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, gather, sell, or maintain any database of warrants or personal warrant information. It publishes general guidance about where Sibley County warrant records sit and how to check them through Court Administration, the Sheriff's Office, and the state court system. Records held by the District Court, the county, or the Sheriff are government data, and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13) governs how the public asks for them. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected from visitors is compiled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Anything typed into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those companies set their own rules for retention and sharing, and we have no control over them. Read the partner's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to sheriff's office sites, Minnesota Judicial Branch pages, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy applies. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites to target ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may receive information:
- Search partners that process queries run on this site
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that serve ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect the information that is collected. No system connected to the internet is completely safe, though. We take reasonable steps to keep data secure and cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is built for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota privacy and consumer-protection law, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13), may give you added rights over your data. Chapter 13 is the law that covers records kept by county and court offices, and it sets out how those records are requested. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us correct information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the site changes. A revised version is posted on this page with a new effective date, so check back if you want to follow how information is handled.
